Inclusive Play Spaces
Children use the Inclusive play spaces through participation in:
- Weekday School programmes – Special schools bring their children for a morning of play. The children are helped to use the play equipmentswhioch are designed to meet their developmental needs. Approximately 100 children visit each park every week when the schools are in session.
- Inclusive Events – Quarterly Events where about 200 children with and without disabilities play together on a Saturday morning, supported by volunteers, parents and teachers. The Integration Events aim at helping children of all abilities learn to interact with each other, in a spirit of equality and with sensitivity. For children with disabilities, being accepted as part of a larger social group, without discrimination will enhance their sense of self-worth.
